Four community initiatives across the Jandowae region will share in grants totalling almost $100,000 to improve their community services and facilities thanks to the Wambo Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund.

The fund aims to improve the lives of those who live, work and play alongside Wambo Wind Farm by supporting tangible projects that make the region more connected, sustainable, resilient and healthy.

Through this funding round, Bell Bunya Community Centre will partner with Wambo Wind Farm to refurbish the community centre and modernise the space. The updated decor and new fit-out will better serve the residents of Bell, regardless of their age, and will become a vibrant hub of activity for the community.

Jandowae Community Sports & Recreation Incorporated is similarly going to be changing the look of its home field, with new and updated perimeter fencing around Bicentennial Oval thanks to Wambo’s Community Benefit Fund. The newest addition to the facility will improve safety and enhance the overall experience and functionality of Bicentennial Oval, providing a more secure space for players, spectators and the community.

The members of Cooranga North Recreation Association will be getting on the tools, as they partner with Wambo Wind Farm to install permanent water infrastructure and new fence lines onsite. This project, specifically the enhanced access to water, will support future competitions, cattle and campers, whilst also increasing the efficiency, usability and enjoyment of campdraft events.

The fourth funded project will see Bell Cares Incorporated unveil the Bell Community Bus, a major purchase, not just for the individuals that Bell Cares works with, but for the wider community. This addition will ensure elderly members of the community can access essential services if and when required, while also providing a safe and comfortable way for them to socialise and enjoy the best of what the region has to offer.

Wambo Wind Farm Project Director Stuart Black said this year’s grant program was creating a measurable and positive influence within the community and congratulated 2025’s first round of recipients.

“As we begin to energise Wambo Wind Farm’s turbines, it’s important that we continue to energise the community and support our region,” he said.

“We believe being a good neighbour and contributing to our community’s growth and development is an important part of how Wambo Wind Farm should operate, so it’s great news that we’re able to support some exciting and meaningful initiatives and projects.

“It was fantastic to receive so many applications for funding in the first round of 2025, and I would like to thank all the applicants and congratulate the successful recipients.

“We are extremely proud to be part of this community and look forward to contributing to the local community for many more years to come.”

Each year Cubico Sustainable Investments and Stanwell Corporation, the co-owners of Wambo Wind Farm, provide up to $200,000 in funding to support the communities in which it will operate and establish long-term benefits for surrounding towns including Jandowae and Bell through its Community Benefit Fund. The project also conducts an active community sponsorship program.
