Wambo Wind Farm chips in with some Christmas cheer, partnering in nine community projects

As Wambo Wind Farm continues construction of 83 wind turbines in Diamondy, co-owners Cubico and Stanwell are partnering with local community groups in nine projects and initiatives.
Round two of the Wambo Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund for 2024 will distribute funds based on advice from the program’s Community Advisory Panel to projects that support its host communities of Jandowae and Bell to create long-term benefits for the Western Downs region.
Each year Cubico Sustainable Investments and Stanwell Corporation provide up to $200,000 in funding with the goal of improving the lives of those who live, work and play alongside Wambo Wind Farm, helping to make the region more connected, sustainable, resilient and healthy.
Carl Allcorn, Project Director said it was fantastic to see so many community groups recognised through the fund.
“This community benefit fund has made and continues to make a positive difference within the community,” he said.
“Being the second round of funding for 2024, it is fantastic to see so many local groups apply and to be able to invest in projects that will help many hard-working volunteers in the region.
“We really value being an active part of this community. Partnering with local groups is an important part of how we will construct and operate the Wambo Wind Farm.
“It was great to receive so many applications for funding in this round – I would like to thank and congratulate all the applicants.
“We are extremely proud to be part of this community and look forward to contributing to the local community for many more years to come.”
Community groups are encouraged to work with the Wambo stakeholder engagement team to develop project proposals for future funding rounds, with the next round due to open in early February 2025.
