Wambo Wind Farm helps Taralga Retirement Village buy a new accessible van, boosting health, wellbeing and mobility for local aged care residents.

Residents and carers at the Taralga Retirement Village have much to celebrate following a significant funding contribution from Wambo Wind Farm and Powerlink for the purchase of a replacement purpose-built accessible vehicle.
The sponsorship means Taralga’s wheelchair dependent residents and NDIS clients can continue to access essential medical, allied health and other appointments further afield from Jandowae.
Donna Tanner of Taralga Retirement Village said the support will make a measurable difference to the health and wellbeing of so many local community members – both their clients and their staff.
“At a time when every penny counts, we simply could not have made this purchase without the support of Wambo Wind Farm. We were lucky to have the old vehicle donated to us, but with over 400,000kms on the clock it had reached a point where it needed repairs we just couldn’t afford.
“This sponsorship has allowed us to secure a replacement vehicle in fantastic condition, ensure our clients can travel safely and more comfortably to appointments when they need to.
“Social outings will also provide a positive for the happiness and wellbeing of these residents, their families and the carers, giving them a sense of being out and about in their community.
“It’s wonderful to know that Wambo Wind Farm is there to support our community and we thank Powerlink, Cubico and Stanwell for their commitment to the wellbeing of our aged care and high-care residents,” she said.
Wambo Wind Farm Project Director, Carl Allcorn said, “This is exactly the type of initiative that Wambo Wind Farm is happy to support as it meets community needs.
“With every hospital visit, every trip to a medical clinic or support service, and every social outing - this vehicle will help the residents travel safely and comfortably and we are delighted to have been able to contribute to it".
Gerard Reilly, Powerlink’s General Manager, Communications, Customer and Engagement said building a lasting legacy with communities is important to Powerlink's work.
"We are proud to partner with Stanwell, Vestas and Cubico Sustainable Investments to purchase a new van which is essential to the health and wellbeing of residents at the Taralga Retirement Village.
"We hope the van is put to good use transporting residents to essential medical and community services across Jandowae, Dalby and even further afield.”
