The Wambo Wind Farm continues to make strong progress, with several major milestones achieved during June.

Stage 1 – Turbines pass halfway mark

We’re excited to share that the main substation has now been fully commissioned, and in a major project milestone, we’ve successfully energised the first of 42 wind turbines.

All major civil and electrical works, including upgrades to surrounding public roads, are now complete. Our operations and maintenance facility has also been finished, and the Vestas service team is now preparing to support the operational requirements of the project from later this year.

Installation and commissioning of turbines remains our main activity. 21 of the 42 turbines have now been fully installed, so we’ve officially passed the halfway mark! A third main crane will be mobilised to site in July to support ongoing installation works.

We look forward to progressively energising more turbines over the coming months as part of the final testing and commissioning process.

Stage 2 – Construction on track

Stage 2 is also progressing well: all major civil works are now complete across the site, and construction of the main wind farm substation, which will connect the wind farm to the Powerlink transmission network, is continuing to plan.

Over 90 kilometres of underground 33kV cable are being installed to connect the 41 turbines back to the substation.

Meanwhile, wind turbine deliveries and early installation activities have commenced. The lower tower sections are now being installed, and later this year, the main cranes from Stage 1 will transition across to complete full turbine erection on Stage 2.
